Brucetta (a.k.a Jaws the Third / Jaws 3 / Jaws III / or the big sister or the 2nd mother shark) is the nickname for the female Great White Shark depicted in the film Jaws 3-D and serves as the main antagonist.

Character attributes[]

In many respects, some critics have noted that this shark can be empathized to a degree so far as it's a wild animal being held captive in a waterpark against its will due to the greed of the park operators, therefore; justifying her want to escape and the subsequent carnage left in her wake. In this respect, the film can be compared to other mega-rampaging monster flicks like King Kong.

Additionally, Brucetta is one of the largest sharks in the entire franchise, tied with Jaws, measuring 35 feet long and weighing 13.5 tons.

Role in Jaws 3-D[]

Brucetta and her child are held captive at SeaWorld park from the outside world ocean through into the gate from the beginning. After Brucetta kills diver Shelby Overman, she follows her child and kills two coral thieves in cold blood at night.

Brucetta is coming out hiding from the filtration tunnel pump pipe opposite side of the lagoon to reveal herself to the terrified everybody at the underwater restaurant café to take revenge for the death of her son, injuring Kelly and other people on the beach, and damaged the pressure underwater tunnels to trap the people inside.

Then she’s followed FitzRoyce as live bait using lifeline, attracted by metallic sounds and chum (fish oil and blood) back into the pipe after the backwash gate was closed by his friend, Jack, and swallows Fitzroyce alive and smashes him to death with her jaws after luring her back inside the filtration pump pipe that Fitzroyce tried to use the grenade to blow the shark up, escaping the pipe with her tail to attack Mike and Kay during being distracted by the dolphins (Cindy and Sandy are alive and survived the largest shark) trying to drain the water from wrench the pressure tunnel patch and evacuate the civilians to go home, as well as terrorizing several park visitors, smashed the underwater control room window, flooding the control room, ate Fred the technician and Michael "Mike" Brody is able to use a metal pole to pull the pin out of the grenade with the Fitzroyce corpse in her mouth, blowing Brucetta's head apart and killing her. Bits of her jaws are then shown floating towards the screen.

Human Victims[]

Animal Victims[]

  • Grouper: Bitten in half.

Survival Victims[]

Family[]

Following the franchise story arc and lineage, this shark is believed to have been the mother of Brucette, the 30-foot-long gravid female from the second film/novel. At roughly 35 feet, she is also one of the largest sharks yet seen in the Jaws franchise, tied with the shark from Jaws Unleashed.

Notes[]

Brucetta is the only shark that does not have female victims; she injured a woman, but failed to kill her. The attack on the woman was the only time Brucetta was seen out of the water. Otherwise she is mostly seen underwater.

Brucetta's role in Jaws 3D would possibly inspire the role of the Piranhas in Piranha 3DD, as that also happens to be a movie about a dangerous sea creature(s) invading a water park.

As depicted in the film, no adult Great White has successfully been held in captivity, largely because they tend not to eat and also bump into walls. Most die within a short period of time.
